Out and About

Day 1 on the campaign trail

Today I got the chance to do some campaigning in the neighbourhood of Glenbrook. I choose this neighbourhood to begin my door to door campaign to gather signatures for my nomination form because I have fond memories of running around there with my cousins and friends from school.

I was a little anxious about going door to door because I am aware that asking people for their time suddenly could be a little intrusive, especially right on their doorstep. Fortunately I had my supportive husband out there with me and the people I spoke to were patient and informative. I’d especially like to send my thanks out to the first lady who welcomed me inside and spoke to me frankly about her thoughts on what the current council is doing right and some thoughts on where we can do better. She was my first non-family member signature on my nomination form and she laughed when I told her.

I am new to this side of politics since I am usually the one behind the scenes doing the work, but everyday I will learn and get better to best serve the communities in Ward 6.
